Thursday, 30 April 2009

1. As the morning sun shows its face, so do a family of rabbits, exploring a football pitch as I pass on the bus.

2. A colourful rainbow breaks up the dreariness of a grey sky.

3. Finding a spare seat on a bus filled with schoolchildren and commuters.

Sunday, 26 April 2009

1. It feels invigorating to run in the morning sunshine wearing a new pair of running shoes for the first time.

2. I'm surprised to cook something from scratch which actually tastes nice! It feels good to eat fewer processed things and do more cooking, and the process is really relaxing.

3. I spot some unusual dark purple tulips in a garden and start thinking about what else we can do to our own space at the front of our flat. We've started filling some pots with flowers and it makes a real difference to see some colour as I walk to the front door.

Thursday, 23 April 2009

1. Throwing open the windows and letting in some glorious fresh air.

2. Spotting a heron by the canal, and a mother duck with her precious clutch of ducklings.

3. Holding hands and feeling safe.

Sunday, 12 April 2009

1. Travelling by train along the east coast, passing tiny seaside villages with candy-coloured cottages.

2. Enjoying a hearty home-cooked meal.

3. Basking in the satisfaction of a good spring clean.

Thursday, 9 April 2009

1. A long-awaited hug from my mum.

2. I sometimes struggle to relax when I have nothing to do. I like to have plans and be occupied. But after a busy few months without much time to breathe, I begin to really appreciate the free time while I'm at my mum's.

3. An easy phone conversation with my dad.

4. Walking the dogs and watching them snuffling through piles of dead leaves to get their ball back.

5. Waking up to the sound of birdsong.

6. Starting and finishing a book within the space of three days (this is a rare thing for me).

Thursday, 2 April 2009

1. Today's run feels so free and easy compared with the longer runs of the previous few days. It's refreshing, and I realise how important it is to be prepared psychologically as well as physically.

2. I enjoy a chat with my grandad on his birthday.

3. I like feeling organised when I put the recycling box out for collection.

Wednesday, 1 April 2009

1. Walkers, cyclists and fellow runners are all happy to exchange greetings as we pass each other on the canal path.

2. I'm groggy when something wakes me up just as I'm falling into a deep sleep; my mum has sent me a text message to tell me that she's looking forward to seeing us this weekend.

3. I'm taken in by a harmless April Fool's joke.
